Summer Vacation Dreaming?

School is out soon!  Are you wanting to travel to a Disney Destination, but concerned about the travel costs?  Here are some ideas to save you some money and make your vacation more affordable.

Plane, Train, or Automobile.   It is always a good idea to check out all options for travel to see what will work for you.  If you decide to travel by Plane, the best day to purchase your tickets is on Tuesday.  You will also save money if you start your vacation travel is mid-week.

When making your lodging plans, consider all options.    Staying at a Disney Hotel offers great convenience by being close to the action.  But staying a few minutes outside the area is often cheaper.  There are also many rental houses available.  Right now, on selected Disney World Hotels, save 30% if you book between  8/15/12/ - 9/29/12.  Call Disney Direct at 407-939-7796, or go back to our website and click on Disney!

Picnicing With The Mouse

So you may wonder, can I bring my own food into the park?  Yes you can!

Disney Parks accomadate people with food allergies, and dietary restrictions.  So whether you are a vegetarian, have a food allergy, diabetic, or follow a gluten-free diet, Disney Parks will have an option for you.  You can call the Disney Dining Hotline if you are concerned about a specific dietary issue.  The number for the hotline is 1-714-781-DINE.  They can answer any of your questions and make reservations to suit your needs.

The option is always there to pack a picnic for the day.  There are designated picnic areas just outside the gate.  Bringing snacks, or other provisions in the park will be ok.  They just want to keep the picnics outside the gate. You can bring in the park any drink as long as it is not alcoholic, and it can not be in a glass bottle.

Caveat Emptor :: Buyer Beware Craigslist Disney Ticket Scams!

A big part of why I'm here on this blog and on my website is to share my knowledge and help others save money at Disneyland!  One of the things that I am choosing to write about early on is one of the biggest ways people get scammed at Disneyland: fake park tickets!

Over the past several years, Craigslist has become a permanent fixture in our society.  Often times, Craigslist is a great source for buying and selling goods, trading services, etc.  One area of Craigslist that has caused many problems is their "Tickets" section.  Many people are legitimately trying to sell extra tickets to movies, concerts, and even theme parks.  For every legitimate seller, there are many scammers who sell expired or fake Disneyland tickets to unsuspecting buyers.

If you purchase fake Disneyland tickets from anyone, even without knowing that they are fake, you will be denied park entry.  And, chances are, you won't ever see that money that you spent on them again.

Also, stay far away from "rental" tickets.

Here are some ways to protect yourself and your tickets while in the parks:
  • Sign the back of your ticket
  • Always carry identification with you to prove that you are the owner of the ticket.  You can be "carded" at any time.
  • Always get a hand stamp when you exit the park, even if you don't think you'll be coming back in
  • If you purchase your park tickets through the Disney Travel Company or AAA, you will receive a lanyard with a plastic ticket holder on it.  These holders are also available for purchase anywhere that pins are sold.  This is a great way to keep your tickets close to you at all times!

I cannot stress this enough: Purchase your tickets directly through Disney or any other authorized sellers, such as AAA, Vons, or Ralph's!!!!  And always be sure to get a receipt!

FREE Breakfast Entree Right Outside Disneyland!

How many times have you been on vacation and end up eating the same thing every morning for breakfast?  Eating out every meal can get pricey and boring!
Right across from Disneyland is a Mimi's Cafe!  It is within walking distance of the park and they have a wonderful selection!  If you sign up for their eClub, you will get a coupon in your inbox for a FREE breakfast entree with the purchase of another entree!

Mimi's Cafe's breakfast menu can be found here.

Freebie Report!!!!

ALERT!!!!
FREE!!!!!!
If you purchase a coffee from The Market House on Main Street in Disneyland, save your receipt!  If you bring back your empty coffee cup along with your receipt, you can get FREE refills throughout the day!  This will only work if you do this the same day that you purchase the drink.  They will check the receipt.

Disneyland doesn't offer free refills everywhere, so this is a great deal to take advantage of, especially if you're a coffee drinker!

Note: If you don't want to carry around your coffee cup all day, you can rent a locker for under $10 and place it in there.  Lockers are a great "bang for your buck".  A small locker can hold several water bottles, a bag, and even a change of clothes.  Look for more information about locker rentals coming up on future blog posts!
